What is a Mural?

A large painting on a wall.

From the early 15th century Latin word muralis "of a wall", which comes from murus, which means wall.

Murals alter the nature of any room and are excellent if you're looking for a theme to stylize any space.

This technique allows you to paint only one wall, if you're on a budget, but still achieve a great show piece. They emphasize esthetic elements, giving drab and featureless spaces a character of their own, while hiding or deemphasizing less desirable features.

Private homes or structures are not exclusive to this technique. Public areas such as restaurants, hotels, night clubs, offices, hospitals, schools or any place you can imagine, could enhance their environment, not to mention value, with a spark of personality.

Murals are methodical.

It's important to choose a structured design before beginning. You should have a precise picture in your minds eye of the image to be painted on the wall. It can range from simple to complex.

Your other walls can then be painted as a
Faux Finish, which may complement your mural.
