Christina's Room
Christina was born without
the gift of sight. Christina's mother commissioned Betty to paint
her room in a jungle theme and to make as stimulating to Christina
as possible.
Betty used felt for the spots on the giraffe and yarn for the mane
on the giraffe. The palm tree has simulated coconuts. The flowers
are painted on the wall as well as silk flowers glued to the wall.
The Lion's mane is made of fake fur, the Mango Tree has simulated
bark (including a knot hole that allows Christina to put her finger
in and push a hidden button that makes a sound like birds chirping)
and leaves as well as simulated mangos. The parrot has real feathers
on the tail.
