Choosing An Artist
Choose an artist with whom you feel comfortable.
If you have a
large-scale project this artist could be in your home for several
days or weeks. You want to be sure they listen to you and your
ideas and are willing to work with you. Many artists have a
tendency to take over a project as if it were their own.
Know exactly what you are getting from the artist up front.
The
last thing you want is a surprise when the bill comes. Before any
painting takes place make sure they provide you with a detailed
drawing of the design or faux finish sample along with a final
estimate.
View samples of their work before you
hire them.
Every artist should bring along a portfolio to your
meeting or at least some samples of their work. Don't trust that
"They can do it."
Ask for references
It's a good idea to find out
what their work characteristics are. A few questions you may want
to ask - Were they messy? Did they show up on time? Did they
complete the job when they said they would? Were they easy to deal
with? Were there any surprise costs?
